Hair loss is not a problem solely for men. Women actually make up 40% of all people suffering from hair loss. While that might be a scary statistic, there’s hope. There are a number of products out there that can help stimulate hair growth and come back stronger and shinier. We asked people who deal with treating hair loss on a daily basis and turned to hairstylists and hair experts for their opinions on the hair-loss products they like to recommend to clients. We’ve rounded up their favorites.
Kerastase Specifique Traitement Intensif Anti-Affinement and Bain Stimuliste $60 – SHOP
“They stimulate the hair follicle and rebalance the scalp,” says celebrity hairstylist Nunzio Saviano. “If you’re going through some temporary hair loss that is hormonal or stress-related, the follicles get weaker. These [products] increase blood flow to the follicles and give them nutrients they need, essentially working as a stimulant. I see the results they deliver for my clients, particularly helping with regrowth in the temple area. Keep in mind if you take vitamins for hair growth, you can grow hair all over. With this treatment you can concentrate on the areas where it’s needed.”
Nutrafol Advanced Thinning Hair & Hair Loss Supplement $88 – SHOP
“I’m a big believer in taking supplements to keep your hair strong, especially since it’s a part of our bodies that doesn’t always get the nutrients it needs,” says master colorist Sharon Dorram at Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger Salon. “I personally take Nutrafol and have noticed a change. But you really need to be diligent and take the recommended four capsules a day. It can take up to two to three months before seeing any change, but trust me—it’s worth it.”
Davines Energizing Shampoo & Seasonal Energizing Superactive $30 – SHOP
“Davines Energizing shampoo is great for daily [use], as it protects from thinning and breakage,” says Pickthorn Studio owner and Davines haircare expert Chelsey Pickthorn. “The Seasonal Energizing Superactive is targeted for hormonal hair loss issues; it works on the hair and the scalp by adding shine and thickness to the hair. It does all the things mentioned but is targeted to seasonal weather factors that cause this loss. Many people notice hair-loss issues during a certain time of the year; this product would be perfect for you.”
Regenix Natural Hair Loss Treatment Jumpstart Kit $400 – SHOP
“Our treatment program is completely customized to individual scalp and lifestyle needs—it’s not a generic, one-formula-fits-all product,” says scalp specialist and Regenix founder and CEO Bill Edwards. “The Regenix program starts with a microanalysis of each individual’s hair and follicle under a microscope. After hair microanalysis, we review our client’s lifestyle and health profile to propose a treatment that will help them see results in as little as six months.”
Kerastase Initialiste Initialiste Advanced Scalp and Hair Concentrate $61 – SHOP
“I always recommend this serum to any clients experiencing hair loss,” says stylist Michael David from Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger Salon. “I love how easy it is to use and how quickly it gets to work. It infuses skincare with haircare to promote healthier, stronger hair with a really cool scientific mix of gluco-peptides, amino acids, wheat protein, and plant extracts. These ingredients all work together to specifically target the damaged areas and restore the fibers to promote regrowth.”
Shore Magic Collagen Powder $120 – SHOP
“Shore Magic collagen powder is amazing for hair loss,” says lead stylist at Sharon Dorram at Sally Hershberger Salon Temur. “It’s 100% marine collagen and is easily digested, organic, and gluten-free. As we get older, our bodies lack the proper levels of collagen. Shore Magic works quickly to help build back hair after loss, and I’ve seen results in all my clients, including myself. Not only does it rebuild hair, it’s amazing for skin and lashes. I’m obsessed.”
