Dorram, one of the country’s most sought-after celebrity colorists (she has four assistants and sees up to 40 clients a day), is constantly on her feet, recharging with reflexology and weekly acupuncture.
DIET “I’ve been a vegetarian since I was 15, but I’m much less extreme than I used to be. I’ll occasionally have organic chicken or meat, but I won’t eat fish because the oceans are polluted. I grew up on the worst diet possible—Twinkies, hot dogs, TV dinners—but one day I rebelled and it became my lifelong quest to stay healthy.” BREAKFAST: “I start my day with an organic fruit salad with cantaloupe, bananas, and berries, an iced cappuccino from Sant Ambroeus, and my vitamin shake that I blend in my Vitamix before running to work. I throw in Pure Synergy green powder, a vitamin D serum, vitamin D3 powder, Coral Legend mineral supplement powder, a few drops of Radinex oral drops to remove radiation in my body, the Complete Raw Organic Greens from the Ranch at Live Oak in Malibu, frozen berries, and almond milk. I also take MedCaps DPO supplements, a ProOmega, and red raspberry powder. When I arrive at work, I order a green Gravity juice from Juice Press; I’m really hooked on it. That’s my morning—just drinking, drinking, drinking.” LUNCH: “I order the same thing every day: the tricolor salad or soup from Sant Ambroeus or the kale salad from Organic Avenue.” DINNER: “My nanny prepares an assortment of vegetables with organic chicken or bison, but my favorite dinner is lentils or quinoa. I also love pasta, so sometimes I’ll have ravioli. Weekends are when I go to places like Locanda Verde, Tutto Il Giorno, or Il Cantinori, and I’ll break down and have sourdough bread and butter and my vodka martini.” SNACKS: “Granola from the Ranch at Live Oak—it’s so good.” SPLURGES: “The hazelnut gelato from Eataly and dark chocolate.”
FITNESS “I swim laps at the Greenwich Hotel pool three to four times a week. I use a swimmer’s snorkel in the water so I can breathe normally and focus on my strokes. To prevent my highlights from turning green, I cover my hair in Johnson’s Baby Creamy Oil [$3.64] or Nuance hair oil [$9.99] and wear a swim cap. I also love Pilates, Tracy Anderson’s mat classes, skiing, and playing tennis.”
SKINCARE “I get the Clear + Brilliant laser four times a year with dermatologist Robert Anolik—it makes my skin glow. I used to go to Mario Badescu and Bliss for facials when I was younger, but I don’t have time anymore. My skincare is very basic. I wash my face with Colbert M.D. Balance Purifying Cleanser [$52], then use the serum and moisturizer from dermatologist Fredric Brandt’s DNA Do Not Age line. I have every eye cream known to man, but I don’t use them very often. If I’m going to be really good, I use Tracie Martyn’s Enzyme Exfoliant mask [$90], but that’s usually only once a month.”
MAKEUP “I can’t live without Dr. Brandt Skincare Flexitone BB cream [$39] and Clé de Peau concealer [$70]. After that I apply a mix of Sisley Phyto-Blush Eclat in Mango [$88], Sonia Kashuk Beautifying Blush in Pink [$9.79], and Cover FX bronzer [$28]. On my eyes I wear Chantecaille’s Stylo pen liner in dark brown [$34] and Shu Uemura mascara. I was addicted to eyelash extensions for a while, but they didn’t look natural, so now I use Latisse. My favorite lip color is Tom Ford in Pink Dust. If I’m going out at night, I’ll play up my eyes and wear a nude lip. Since I work with my hands all day, I don’t feel clean unless I have a manicure. Sometimes I get one twice a week with Essie Sugar Daddy [$8.50]. I get a pedicure every two weeks, with bold colors like Tom Ford’s Indian Pink or Bordeaux Lust [$32 each].”
HAIR “My hair is really fine, so I’m a big fan of Sally Hershberger’s lifting spray and Dr. Hauschka Body Silk powder [$34.95] to make my hair look fuller. I’ve tried all different shampoos, but I always come back to Kérastase products. Right now I’m using the Cristalliste line. My head assistant highlights my hair every six weeks to cover up my gray, and stylists Tim Rogers and Gabriele Vigorelli cut and blow-dry my hair at the Sally Hershberger salon where I work.”
BODY “I love to take a hot bath at night with Epsom salts, soaps, and oils from Jo Malone, Sabon NYC, or Molton Brown. My body scrub of choice is Sisley Energizing Foaming Exfoliant [$132], and I use mostly La Mer moisturizers. During the day I wear Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose [$125], and at night I love Sisley Eau du Soir.”
